| Watching volleyball videos can seem like
| |
| | and over like a tape recorder in my mind.
|
| the most boring aspect of pre game
| |
| | This is actually kind of easy because
|
| preparation but like most things you just
| |
| | when you aren't performing a skill
|
| have to know how to MAKE it work for you.
| |
| | correctly THAT IS when your coach starts
|
| Usually there are two basic reasons why a
| |
| | yelling at you anyway, right? What they
|
| coach has you watch volleyball
| |
| | are yelling at the top of their lungs
|
| videos...in preparation of an upcoming
| |
| | already exists in your mind so you just
|
| game or to get better at performing a
| |
| | start playing that mental volleyball
|
| particular volleyball fundamental. It's
| |
| | videotape, over and over.
|
| easy to get lulled into or lost in the
| |
| | Then little by little both what I SEE in
|
| moment of the game on the small screen
| |
| | my mind and what I HEAR in my head start
|
| but instead of watching every play just
| |
| | meshing together. When I re-play this
|
| for the sake of saying "hey I finished
| |
| | continuously in my mind these two things
|
| watching the video" pick a particular
| |
| | start coming together where I form a
|
| volleyball fundamental that you need to
| |
| | mental volleyball movie of my own. When
|
| improve and watch the best one or two
| |
| | this mental movie starts playing then
|
| players perform that fundamental over and
| |
| | after awhile my body starts to respond to
|
| over again.
| |
| | the mental voice I hear and the mental
|
| If you need to improve your volleyball
| |
| | picture I've been playing.
|
| serve receive skill or "pass the ball"
| |
| | My body starts doing the things that I
|
| better then that's the part of the game
| |
| | have been rehearsing over and over again
|
| you need to focus on watching other more
| |
| | in my mind. I start seeing myself -take
|
| experienced players do. Unless your
| |
| | the place of that player and in my mind I
|
| volleyball coach has instructed you to
| |
| | see myself performing the pass correctly
|
| watch something in particular (like the
| |
| | over and over.
|
| way a team plays defense or the way a
| |
| | And the aspects of the game that I am
|
| player transitions off the net) focus on
| |
| | playing over and over start to become
|
| watching a better player perform the
| |
| | automatic and I start doing these things
|
| skill that you need to work on the most.
| |
| | physically- not just mentally- but
|
| How does she do that?
| |
| | actually in real life.
|
| What are they doing? How are they
| |
| | That's how I make watching volleyball
|
| standing while the server still has the
| |
| | videos work for me.
|
| volleyball? Do they have a stutter step
| |
| | It's great when you can hear a volleyball
|
| or do they hop jump as the ball is
| |
| | champion who has played for years
|
| crossing the net? Which foot is forward?
| |
| | commentate on the game. Singin Smith,
|
| Is their upper body straight up or
| |
| | Karch Kiraly, Mike Dodd and Holly McPeak
|
| crouched over? Are they straight legged
| |
| | do the color commentary with Chris
|
| or are they in a slight squat position
| |
| | Marlowe for the AVP Beach Pro Volleyball
|
| when they serve receive?
| |
| | Tour games on television. All these
|
| This is what happens to me when I'm
| |
| | volleyball Champions represent some of
|
| watching a volleyball video...
| |
| | the greatest players in the history of
|
| If I'm watching someone serve receive
| |
| | the AVP and all are past Olympians with
|
| well....I watch this player execute the
| |
| | multiple gold, silver and bronze medals in
|
| right volleyball skill or technique over
| |
| | Indoor and Beach Volleyball. Listening to
|
| and over and over again. I want to take
| |
| | them talk about the game is like going to
|
| that "scene" and take that "visual" with
| |
| | volleyball school. The more you do
|
| me so I start playing that scene
| |
| | it...the better volleyball player you can
|
| repeatedly in my head. I start
| |
| | become....and that's one way to make
|
| visualizing that player doing the same
| |
| | volleyball videos improve your volleyball
|
| thing in my mind after I've stopped
| |
| | game.
|
| watching. When I go home, when I go to
| |
| | April Chapple is a former USA National
|
| bed, when I'm washing dishes, before
| |
| | Womens Volleyball Team member and
|
| practice I get used to seeing this player
| |
| | Volleyball Professional who created
|
| do the serve receive correctly in my
| |
| | Volleyball Voices the first virtual
|
| mind.
| |
| | volleyball mentoring community for girls
|
| Then... I start hearing my coach's words
| |
| | volleyball players and volleyball coaches
|
| on how to do this skill correctly. So
| |
| | with stories by champion women volleyball
|
| then I hear my volleyball coach, I hear
| |
| | players and coaching volleyball articles
|
| my coach say "step to the ball", "present
| |
| | that break up volleyball skills so
|
| my platform", "use my legs", and I keep
| |
| | females learn how to play better
|
| hearing my volleyball coach's words over
| |
| | volleyball.
